About Karen Gordon,

Therapy for adults in-person
in Scottsdale and online
across Arizona

Hi, I'm Karen Gordon

I am a licensed clinical social worker who is certified in EMDR, Perinatal Mental Health, and Brainspotting. I am also a certified advanced provider of Compassionate Bereavement Care through the MISS Foundation.

I come from a trauma informed lens and specialize in assisting adults navigating persistent emotional overwhelm in their daily lives. My goal is to guide you away from feeling immobilized and without direction, to empowering you to discover meaning, purpose, and fulfillment.

Together, we'll work toward unlocking a life where you feel more in control and aligned with your sense of purpose.

My Story

I’ve Been Through Tough Stuff Too

As a therapist, I bring a deeply empathetic approach, shaped by my own personal journey through the profound loss of my son, Tenzin in 2008.

This experience has shaped my understanding of the complexities of grief, especially in the realm of motherhood. After he died, I remember feeling like things were incredibly disorienting and overwhelming.

Feeling totally lost and alone, it was hard to know what to do with the overwhelming and immobilizing feelings. Over time, I learned to balance the light with the darkness which allowed me to continue on my motherhood journey and parent my now teenager.

Helping People has always been a passion of mine, I guess you would say it's in my DNA

Being a therapist is an honor. I love walking alongside people as life can be difficult, and no one should have to navigate challenges alone. Witnessing individuals discover their strengths to achieve more fulfilling lives is truly rewarding.

Prior to private practice, I worked for 17 years in children's hospitals, guiding families through life-threatening illnesses. That experience helped me develop a profound ability to support individuals facing seemingly unimaginable situations. If you're dealing with something that feels overwhelmingly daunting, I'm here to offer my expertise and help you navigate through what might seem impossible.

The most rewarding thing about being a therapist is giving hope when people feel hopeless.

I Have Compassion For People And Bring An Open, Non-judgemental Presence To Sessions

I have a natural ability to

Help people feel comfortable.
Inspire hope for getting better.
Accept people for who they are and in their current life circumstances.
Help clients heal their past and manage the present.

People who know me often say that I am a good listener who can sit with people, even when things feel dark or hopeless.

Our Sessions Are Focused On You

Sessions will provide you with the space to be understood and heard. In feeling safe and comfortable, you'll be able to feel what you need to feel.

It's important to me to provide a non-judgemental space where you can be yourself. There isn't a "one size fits all" approach to therapy. Our sessions will fit your specific needs and concerns.

As A Therapist

I Embrace The Following Philosophies

I believe that you deserve to feel better.
I believe that you are worthy of love and care.
I believe that emotions heal when they are witnessed and validated.
I believe that therapy should address the person as a whole - their mind, body, and spirit.
I believe that loving and accepting ourselves for who we are, scars and all, is one of the most courageous things we can do.
